Åhus Beach Handball 2024

Åhus Beach Handball: A Summer Festival for Handball Enthusiasts

Right now, Åhus Beach Handball is in full swing, and as the handball enthusiasts we are at CompanyCations, we're definitely part of the festivities!

Åhus Beach Handball is one of the summer highlights for us handball fanatics and is a major event. Every year, thousands of players and spectators gather in Åhus to participate in this festive and exciting tournament. The event, which spans several days, attracts both amateurs and professional players from all over the country and sometimes even internationally. It began as a small cup in Åhus marina in the summer of 1997, without any registrations, and founder Mats G. Jönsson had to persuade teams to participate. Today, the tournament is Europe's largest beach handball event.

On the opening day this year, we packed our cars and headed up to beautiful Åhus to be part of this year's festival. After our road trip, we started by setting up a small tent camp at First Camp Åhus, which is within walking distance of the festival area.

The campsite is located on the beach and offers several facilities, such as playgrounds, mini-golf, service houses, glamping, and bicycle rental. The area also features Upzone high rope park, a truly unique experience in a magical setting. Here, you can have fun team-building with your company, climbing among the treetops, zip-lining, and enjoying the beautiful nature and the view of the sea.

CompanyCations are proud supporters of our home club IFK Malmö, which we've been cheering for since the opening day – come rain or shine! Yes, the Swedish summer can really feel like a rollercoaster. One day it's sunscreen and blazing sun, and the next day it's pouring rain from morning till evening. But regardless of the weather, we're here enjoying every moment!

Åhus Beach Handball, with the motto "Sports for Everyone," features teams from ages eight and up, boys and girls, to elite level, para-handball, and fun teams. One really fun team we've followed for a few years is Team JosaGrogg. Probably the most unserious team on site, but we promise they provide great entertainment, fun handball, many laughs, and you can be sure to get drink tips if you ask! You can check out their Instagram here.

We have our office dog Angel with us, and she has been overjoyed. It seems that Åhus is home to Golden Retrievers. It has been a bit of a Golden party here, and at one point, you almost thought you were seeing double and had a hard time recognizing your own dog. It's fun that the beach handball is also open to our furry friends!

Åhus is a very charming village located in Skåne, southern Sweden. The town is known for its historic buildings, beautiful beaches, and as the hometown of Absolut Vodka. There are also several golf courses, museums, hiking trails, smokehouses, and plenty of ice cream cafes!

Åhus is also home to Otto & Glassfabriken – a real Skåne ice cream gem! This charming ice cream factory has built its reputation on producing high-quality, artisanal ice cream that is appreciated by both locals and visitors from near and far. No visit to Åhus without Otto, we say!

We also have a few restaurant tips in Åhus that we want to share with you.

Åhus Finest is one of them. A cozy restaurant with outdoor seating, delicious food, and unique decor. There's also a small mini-shop if you want to buy books, postcards, home decor, children's clothes, etc.

For sushi lovers, Sumo Kitchen is the place! Very tasty! We ordered our favorites to-go and sat on a blanket on the beach at sunset and enjoyed! Mmmm!

If you want to enjoy a cold beer and tacos in the sun by the beach, we can recommend Taco Bar. They serve Tex-Mex food, music quizzes, mini-golf, and fun after-work events with various happenings just a few steps from the sand.

Åhus also has a small brewery with several beer varieties that you can also find at Systembolaget (or GlasBanken as Team JosaGrogg calls it). Otto Byggmästare, Fina Stina, Lazy Days, and Åhus Nils Pils are some of them. At Åhus Bryggeri & Restaurang, you can sit with a direct view of their shiny beer tanks and enjoy cold cuts, smörrebröd, schnitzel, and of course, beer.

We also had a good pizza the other evening. It didn't come from a wood-fired oven, which we love, but the flavors were still spot on, and the staff was very friendly and nice. At Restaurang & Pizzeria Milano, we also got a bit of a camping vibe, as there was dance band music coming from the speakers, and several handball teams had also chosen to end their day here. Nothing fancy, just a regular pizzeria with lovely staff.

Åhus offers fantastic opportunities for all who love water activities. Here you can enjoy SUP, kayaking, and much more. Here are some places to explore these activities:

If you want to try SUP, check out Swayzettes. They offer rentals and courses for all levels, from beginners to experienced paddlers. Their SUP tours take you through the beautiful waterways around Åhus and give you a chance to see the town from a unique perspective.

If you prefer kayaking, check out Kayakomat Åhus. They offer self-service kayak rentals through a simple and convenient app-based solution. You can explore the calm waters in the area and enjoy nature's beauty at your own pace.

For a more comprehensive experience on the water, visit Åhus by Water. They offer boat rentals, guided tours, and various activities. Explore the coast, enjoy fishing trips, or just relax on a boat ride while taking in the fantastic sea views.

If you, like us, love spas, there's also the option to check in at Åhus Seaside. But you can read more about this spa in an upcoming post.

Are you craving more handball after reading this? No worries, the festivities are far from over! The tournament is still ongoing, and you have the chance to experience all the fun until July 20th. Come and be a part of the handball joy!

Best regards,
The CompanyCations Team

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura: A Paradise Island for Sun Worshippers and Adventure Seekers

Fuerteventura, one of the Canary Islands, is a true paradise for all surfers who want to combine work and pleasure. Our recent trip here in June was filled with exciting activities, wonderful friends, swimming, and fun. We have visited this island several times – once in Costa Calma, another in Castillo Caleta de Fuste, and three times in Las Playitas. Sometimes we stayed mostly at the destination, while other times we rented a car and explored the island.

Las Playitas - A small picturesque village offering the perfect blend of tranquility and activity. The beach at Las Playitas is nestled in a calm and beautiful bay. The soft black sand and clear waters create a serene environment for relaxation and family-friendly activities.

When staying in Las Playitas, we stayed at Playitas Resort, which is the perfect mix of relaxation and fitness. This resort offers state-of-the-art facilities, including Olympic pools, golf courses, and a variety of fitness classes. It’s an ideal place for families and sports enthusiasts, allowing everyone to stay active while enjoying their holiday. One year, we were there over New Year's Eve, and when lobster is served at the buffet – you go all in! It’s a fantastic memory – perfectly organized fireworks in a starry sky and bonfires on the beach. It's a New Year’s celebration that's hard to beat!

Gran Tarajal is a charming and authentic Canarian village - a hidden gem that offers a quieter and more genuine experience compared to the more tourist-heavy areas of the island. With its relaxed atmosphere, local culture, beautiful beach known for its soft black sand and calm clear waters, Gran Tarajal is a perfect destination for those who want to experience the true Fuerteventura. The long promenade is lined with palm trees and small cafes, making it an ideal place for a leisurely walk. The harbor in Gran Tarajal is a lively spot, especially in the morning when fishing boats come in with their catch. Here you can buy fresh fish and seafood directly from the boats, or simply enjoy the authentic atmosphere. Many restaurants along the promenade offer beautiful views of the sea while you enjoy your meal.

This year, we spent Midsummer Eve and San Juan Night at Playitas Resort. To celebrate Swedish Midsummer in Spanish style, we started the day with a magical kayak and snorkeling tour in the morning with Wellenkind Surf School. Our experience with Wellenkind Surfing School was nothing short of magical! AnnaBelle and Eduardo, our instructors, were not only incredibly friendly but also very professional. Their passion for the ocean truly shines through, making the whole experience unforgettable. It was also luxurious to have two instructors for just the three of us on the adventure.

We paddled through crystal clear waters, explored hidden coves, and snorkeled among marine life. After snorkeling, we were all completely exhausted, so we took a good siesta before heading to the pool. The evening ended with dancing around our decorated palm and a large Spanish tapas table with touches from the traditional Swedish Midsummer celebration - such as schnapps, potatoes, and meatballs.

San Juan Night is a holiday that we love to celebrate in Spain. The elements of fire and water used in the celebration symbolize purification and renewal. Jumping over bonfires and bathing in the sea are seen as actions that cleanse the soul and prepare individuals for the rest of the year with renewed energy and positivity. Everyone (or at least most people) wears white clothes on this day.

How San Juan Night is celebrated can vary significantly depending on the region, but some common traditions include:

Bonfires and FireworksLighting bonfires is a central tradition during San Juan Night. Along the beaches, you can see hundreds of small fires lighting up the evening sky. The fires symbolize purification and driving away evil spirits. People often jump over the fire as a ritual to bring luck and cleanse themselves of sins.

Water RitualAt midnight, people line up along the sea and count down loudly together - Diez, Nueve, Ocho, Siete, Seis, Cinco, Cuatro, Tres, Dos, Uno, and when the clock strikes twelve, just like on New Year's Eve, they walk backwards into the water with their clothes on. This is believed to bring good health and wash away negative energy.

Music and DanceThe festivities often include music, dancing, and other cultural performances. Traditional music and dance are common, but you can also see larger events and clubs with DJs playing on the beach – the night is filled with life and joy.

Food and DrinkNo celebration is complete without festive meals. Different regions have their own specialties, dishes, and drinks for the night, often enjoyed in the company of family and friends. In coastal villages, you often see old rowing boats filled with coals, where whole fish are grilled.

Street Parties and MarketsIn urban areas, the streets come alive with parties, markets, and fireworks. People of all ages participate in the celebration, making it a night of communal joy and entertainment.

Grandes Playas Corralejo, Fuerteventura
Grandes Playas Corralejo, Fuerteventura - Lisette Grevstad

Here lies our favorite beach, Grandes Playas Corralejo, one of the most fantastic and expansive beach areas in the Canary Islands. With white sandy beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters, this beach is a true paradise for both relaxation and adventure. The beach stretches over several kilometers, offering plenty of space for sunbathing, beach activities, and peaceful walks. The fine white sand contrasts beautifully with the clear blue waters, creating a picturesque environment. Grandes Playas is also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Additionally, the calm, shallow waters are perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and are well-suited for families, with gentle waves and plenty of space for children to play. The area is part of Corralejo Natural Park, which includes the famous sand dunes of Corralejo. These vast, rolling sand dunes provide a stunning backdrop to the beaches and give a bit of a desert-like feeling. Perfect for hiking & photography.

Castillo Caleta de Fuste, also known simply as Caleta de Fuste or El Castillo, is a very charming village and a popular holiday resort located on the east coast of Fuerteventura. The main beach in Caleta de Fuste is a beautiful, sheltered bay with golden sand and calm, shallow waters, making it an ideal spot for children and families. The clear waters around Caleta de Fuste make it an excellent place for diving and snorkeling. There are several dive centers in the area offering lessons and equipment for both beginners and experienced divers. From the marina, you can book various boat trips, including deep-sea fishing, catamaran tours, and submarine trips to explore marine life. One of the most famous beaches in Jandía, Playa de Sotavento, stretches over several kilometers with fine golden sand and crystal-clear water. The beach is ideal for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing due to the steady winds and shallow lagoons. Jandía Natural Park is a protected nature park that encompasses most of the peninsula. The park is home to a rich variety of plant and animal life as well as impressive mountain landscapes. The highest point on Fuerteventura, Pico de la Zarza, is located within the park and offers fantastic views of the island and the Atlantic Ocean. Jandía is also known for its unique flora and fauna. The peninsula is an interesting spot for birdwatching, with many species stopping by during their migration routes.

Morro Jable: The most prominent town on the Jandía peninsula is Morro Jable, which offers a wide range of hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops. The town also has a picturesque harbor where visitors can book boat trips and fishing excursions.

Workation in Paradise: Our Adventures in Puerto Rico

For CompanyCations with family, last November was a time filled with sun, adventure, and unforgettable experiences in Puerto Rico. Join us on our journey as we combined work and pleasure in the best possible way!

A Nervous Start

When we flew to Puerto Rico, we were met with reports of massive flooding. Fortunately, we had booked our first night at the airport, so we didn’t have to venture out immediately. A bit nervous about picking up the rental car, we quickly breathed a sigh of relief. In Puerto Rico, they are used to downpours, and their roads are well-prepared to quickly handle large amounts of water. So, when we finally set off, the roads were dry and ready for our adventure.

First Stop: Old Town San Juan

Our adventure began in the charming old town of San Juan. Old San Juan is one of the oldest settlements in the Americas and offers a mix of history, culture, and a lively atmosphere. The colorful house facades, cobblestone streets, and rich history make every walk a journey back in time.

Old Town, San Juan

We started with a tour of the San Juan National Historic Site, where we visited the impressive fortresses Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal. These massive structures were built by the Spanish to defend the city from sea attacks. The view from the fortress walls is spectacular, offering a fantastic panorama of the Atlantic Ocean and the city.

After exploring the fortresses, we walked to Catedral de San Juan Bautista, one of the oldest cathedrals in the Western Hemisphere. This magnificent building is a peaceful oasis amid the city's hustle and bustle, a place for reflection and admiration of its Gothic architecture.

We took a break to enjoy some ice cream at the popular gelato bar Anita. With a wide variety of flavors and a refreshing break from the heat, this was a highlight for both young and old in our team.

We continued our city walk through Old San Juan, passing iconic spots like Paseo de la Princesa, a beautiful promenade lined with statues, fountains, and trees. It leads to Puerta de San Juan, the last remaining of the original gates that once allowed entry to the city.

After a lovely lunch at a local restaurant, where we enjoyed Puerto Rican cuisine, it was time to head towards Ceiba, our base for the upcoming week.

Heading to Ceiba

Ceiba became our base for a week filled with activities. We took a memorable boat trip to the island of Culebra and Bahia Flamenco, one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Bahia Flamenco is known for its crystal-clear water and white sand that stretches as far as the eye can see. We spent the day snorkeling, sunbathing, and simply enjoying the fantastic scenery. We also indulged in delicious ice cream at Rolls of Heaven, a charming little café where you can sit in a small courtyard with chickens roaming around the tables. Culebra is a peaceful island offering a perfect escape from the bustling mainland, with its relaxed atmosphere and scenic beauty.

Rainforest Adventures

One day was dedicated to a rainforest hike in El Yunque National Forest. Here, we explored natural rock slides and water holes, and even picked coconuts that tasted divine in the middle of nature. The hike took us through dense forests, past roaring waterfalls, and to the most incredible viewpoints. We loved sliding down the rocks and swimming in the crystal-clear water holes.

El Yunque National Park, Puerto Rico

On our way back, we took a detour to explore Luquillo Beach. Although the road there was challenging with its narrow paths and deep puddles that hadn’t fully dried up after the floods, it quickly turned into a thrilling experience for us adults, as we had to walk barefoot through large puddles while the kids laughed and talked about snakes! Despite the little drama on the way, our swim at Luquillo Beach was something we will never forget.

Another highlight was a 20th birthday dinner at the cozy restaurant El Pescador in Las Croabas. Here, we enjoyed authentic Puerto Rican food like mofongo, fantastic drinks, and a friendly atmosphere that made the evening unforgettable.

Next Destination: Dorado

After a fantastic week in Ceiba, we drove to Dorado.

Dorado, Puerto Rico

From here, we made several day trips. For example, we drove to a beautiful beach – Playa de Vega Baja. Perfect for relaxation and a bit of adventure. This beach is known for its crystal-clear water, rocks that frame the beach and separate it from the rest of the ocean, and soft sand. You can easily spend a whole day here sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. There are also several kiosks serving delicious local dishes and refreshing drinks.

On the way to Guajataca, we stopped at a lookout point with outstanding views. Mirador de Guajataca offers a spectacular panoramic view of the Guajataca area. Here, you can see lush forests, cliffs, and the sea stretching out to the horizon. We also stopped at Cara del Indio to see the impressive Mabodamaca sculpture. This enormous stone statue, depicting a Taíno Indian, stands proudly on a hill and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. It’s a perfect spot to take in Puerto Rico's natural beauty and capture some memorable photos.

Down at Guajataca Beach, we took a small walk through the Guajataca Tunnel. This tunnel, which was once part of a railway, leads directly to a secluded beach. It’s an experience to walk through the tunnel and emerge onto the untouched coastline with its dramatic cliffs and wild waves. Perfect for adventurous souls looking to explore something unique.

For those who want to shop till they drop, there are Puerto Rico Premium Outlets. Time flies here as you can find a variety of stores. It’s an excellent place to find bargains from well-known brands.

We also visited Catarata Gozalandia, a magical waterfall where we swam and jumped from cliffs (an adrenaline rush for those who dared). This spectacular waterfall is hidden in a lush rainforest and offers a perfect spot for adventure and relaxation.

The perfect end to our trip! Thankfully, the kids only told us about the snakes they saw on the way home – so glad I missed that!

Having a job that allows for workations with family is absolutely amazing! It offers a perfect balance between work and quality time with loved ones, opening up for adventures and new experiences. Being able to travel and see the world without taking vacation days is truly a luxury! When you have the flexibility to work from anywhere, you can explore new places, cultures, and activities without sacrificing career progress. This lifestyle not only provides professional freedom but also the chance to create unforgettable memories together as a family. Something we value highly. If you have the chance to go on a workation – do it!!! It’s an experience that enriches both your work and your life.

Dorado, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico proved to be the perfect destination for us with its mix of nature, culture, and incredible experiences. We are already looking forward to our next November workation in 2024 – the destination is still an exciting secret!

We recently took an amazing trip to Denmark, discovering endless options for the perfect conference. Join us as we explore Fredericia and explain why it’s such a fantastic and sustainable destination for your next business trip.

A historic and multicultural city
Fredericia boasts a rich and significant history. Founded as a fortress city in 1650 by King Frederik III, its fortifications are among the best-preserved in Europe, playing a crucial role in Denmark’s military history. Fredericia’s toler ant policies have made it a haven for various religious groups over the years, contributing to its multicultural heritage. This blend of historical openness and modern development makes Fredericia a fascinating destination for visitors and business travelers alike.

Strategic location and infrastructure
Located by the Little Belt, Fredericia is connected to Middelfart on Funen via the old and new Little Belt bridges, key infrastructural landmarks in Denmark. During our teambuilding activities, we explored the area in depth, including rib boat rides and bridge walking, which provided thrilling experiences.

Fredericia is also an important industrial and commercial hub with Denmark’s deepest port, hosting significant logistics and manufacturing companies, highlighting the city’s economic importance.

Energy crawl & green transition
We participated in an “Energy Crawl,” a guided tour to various energy sector facilities in Fredericia. It was an educational experience where we saw the latest in energy technology and innovation, showcasing why Fredericia leads in green energy. If your team works in this sector, we can customize your trip to include similar tours.

We also learned about The Green Hub, officially known as Net Zero, Innovation Hub for Data Centers. Supported by companies like Danfoss, Google, Microsoft, and Schneider Electric, this initiative aims to accelerate the green transition in the data center industry, fostering collaboration to enhance energy efficiency, optimize cooling systems, and use renewable energy.

Environmental responsibility was a core part of our Fredericia experience. Our journey, which took about three hours by train from Malmö, reflects the city’s sustainability focus. Fredericia’s strategic location makes it accessible from all parts of Denmark in less than two hours, making it a vital hub in the Danish railway network.

Conference outside the hotel?
We toured Fredericia Musical Theatre, one of Denmark’s most respected venues. We saw how a conference could be held here, with backstage insights and a street food feast catered by a local restaurant, accompanied by beautiful singing from two talented students. Their voices truly moved us, and we highly recommend hosting events here.

Fredericia offers many hotels with various styles and amenities to suit most tastes. But for a unique and unforgettable experience with the sea and forest as your neighbors, there’s luxurious glamping in one of Denmark’s most scenic areas, designated as one of the country’s top 15 natural gems by the Environmental Agency. You can stay in traditional cabins or modern glamping tents equipped with TV, kitchen, toilet, and shower, plus your own jacuzzi for relaxation. It’s the perfect blend of nature’s beauty and modern comforts.

Your group can enjoy hiking on the 5 km "Næsset Rundt" trail, cycling along the scenic T8 route, or activities like kitesurfing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Or, take a mushroom hunting tour and discover the many species thriving in the area. The nature center at Trelde Næs also provides free equipment for crab fishing and other beach activities, making it easy to plan an exciting and varied corporate outing. Enjoy wild food by gathering edible plants and herbs along the foraging route or arrange catering for a luxurious meal under the stars. The rich flora and fauna create a unique and inspiring environment for both relaxation and creative meetings.

Guided tour & wine tasting
A guided city tour ending at the historic water tower with refreshments and a cozy picnic? Or why not visit Lindely Vineyard for a wine tasting? A highlight for all wine lovers, Lindely Vineyard is known for its organic wines and idyllic surroundings, making it a perfect place for relaxation and networking. Enjoy guided tours through the vineyard and learn about the wine-making process while tasting some of Denmark’s best wines.

Come join us in Tallinn!

Our trip to Tallinn was a perfect mix of modern and old, historical charm and Eastern European culture. The old town offers budding church towers as a reminder of the Soviet era, while the winding cobblestone streets lead us to the mighty medieval city wall. We are introduced to the Middle Ages, which permeate my entire journey. Already on the first evening, we step into a time machine that transports us to traditional Eastern European cuisine filled with love, combined with medieval music. Did you know that Tallinn has many Danish influences? Estonia was Danish for 100 years, and the countries still have a close relationship today. During our tour of the old town, we pass several Danish flags and a rose garden established (in 2005) in honor of Queen Margrethe. The rose garden has become an important symbol of Denmark and Estonia's historical and cultural cooperation. The old town is fantastic and full of history and mystique, but now we continue out through the grand medieval entrance and back to the present.

Tallinn old town

One kilometer from the old town, amidst greenery and industries, lies the hip area of Telliskivi. It has undergone an impressive transformation from an industrial area to a creative and urban quarter. Known for its bohemian atmosphere and alternative culture, Telliskivi is filled with artist studios, design shops, cafes, restaurants, and galleries, making it a popular destination. Telliskivi Creative City houses many different companies and organizations in creative and cultural industries. Various events and festivals such as concerts, art exhibitions, and craft markets are also organized. Telliskivi is also known for its graffiti art and street art scenes, giving the area a colorful character. Just in the area, there is also a photography museum with similar exhibitions to those in Stockholm, and on the roof of the building, there is a large rooftop bar and restaurant where all the cool Tallinn residents hang out.

Telliskivi

To further immerse ourselves in Estonia's history, we had the opportunity to visit Maarjamae Palace, a historic building located in the Pirita district of Tallinn. The palace was built in 1874 by Count Anatoli Orlov-Davydov and has beautiful neoclassical architecture. During the Soviet era, the palace was used for various purposes, including as residences for Soviet party members and later as an art museum. Today, Maarjamae Palace functions as part of the Estonian History Museum, housing exhibitions focusing on Estonia's modern history and culture. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and parks, making it a pleasant place to visit for a walk and to enjoy the historical atmosphere.

Lahemaa National Park is Estonia's largest national park and one of the oldest in Europe. Located along Estonia's northern coast, just about 70 kilometers from Tallinn, the park was established in 1971 to protect the area's unique nature and cultural heritage. Lahemaa National Park offers a diverse nature with beautiful coastlines, forests, and lakes. Visitors can experience a variety of plant and animal species, including many rare and endangered ones. In addition to its stunning nature, Lahemaa National Park also boasts a rich cultural heritage with historic manors, fishing villages, and ancient sites. Visitors can explore old estates such as Vihula Manor and learn more about Estonia's history and traditions. And by the way, there's a great spa and mini-golf too! Explore Tallinn and discover its rich history, vibrant culture, and scenic surroundings. A trip here is like a fascinating historical journey where every step brings you closer to understanding Estonia's unique heritage and charm

Our Train Journey in Switzerland

Last week, we had two study trips planned: a train journey in Switzerland from Geneva to Zurich, and a trip to Tallinn, Estonia.
Study trips give us the opportunity to explore and experience destinations to ensure we can offer the best to our clients. It’s about discovering new places, hotels, and activities so we can create memorable experiences. This way, we can be sure that we not only meet but exceed your expectations every time you travel with us.Join us here on our journey in Switzerland! First up is Geneva.

Day 1: Cancelled Flight and Late Evening

The trip didn’t start off particularly well as our flight to Geneva was cancelled. Rebooking with a layover in Zurich seemed to solve the problem, but with a flight delay of over an hour, we missed our connection in Zurich and had to rebook again. As a result, we had a very late check-in at Hotel N'vY, missed the presentation about Geneva, and instead of having dinner with the rest of the group who flew from Arlanda, we went straight to bed. As they say, not the best start, but things can only get better from here!

La bonbonniere, Genéve
La bonbonniere, Genéve

Day 2: Chocolate Making, Cheese Fondue, and Wine Tasting in the Countryside

The day started with a hotel inspection at both Hotel N'vY and Hôtel Royal, where we had the opportunity to check out the rooms, conference facilities, restaurants, and more. Both hotels are part of the Manotel chain, which offers six hotels in Geneva, each with a different theme. While Hôtel Royal offers a classic feel, Hotel N'vY has a more modern style.

Next, we continued to La Bonbonnière, where we had the chance to make our own Swiss chocolate - an unforgettable experience for all chocolate lovers! La Bonbonnière is renowned for its unique chocolate-making and offers the opportunity to learn more about the history and production of chocolate. It’s a perfect team-building activity in Switzerland.

After the chocolate-making, we took a short tour of the city. One fascinating aspect of Switzerland is its multilingualism due to the country’s multiculturalism. The four official languages in Switzerland are German, French, Italian, and Romansh. German is the most spoken language and is used as the main language in the German-speaking regions in the north and east. French is primarily spoken in the western part of the country, while Italian is used in the southern regions, especially in Ticino. Romansh is a lesser-spoken language and is mainly used in the canton of Graubünden. It's easy to see why one might get a bit confused and not know whether to say Merci Beaucoup or Grazie Mille.

Another cool thing about Geneva is that you can fill your water bottle and drink directly from the city’s fountains, as it is clean water from the mountains.
Thanks to our Choco pass , which gave us the opportunity to get free samples from several chocolatiers in Geneva, my suitcase was packed with heavenly chocolate when I got home.
After a pleasant walk in the sun, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Kiosque des Bastions, a place impressive for hosting cool events. There are plenty of possibilities here!We then took a short train ride (10 minutes) to the countryside. With our Geneva City Pass , we could travel for free on all public transport and also had the opportunity to visit 60 free attractions.
After the train ride, we were met by Frederic, our cycling guide. Equipped with e-bikes, we set out on a tour of the beautiful landscape. After about 25 minutes, we arrived at a wine tasting - a very authentic experience, as if we were invited to a neighbor’s own wine cellar. Here, we learned more about Swiss wines and had the opportunity to purchase a few bottles to take home.

In the evening, we returned to Geneva for another hotel inspection at Edelweiss Hotel, which is also part of the Manotel group. Their motto is "Mountains in the city," and that’s exactly the feeling you get as soon as you enter the reception.

We also had an exclusive fondue cooking class, followed by dinner at the Edelweiss Restaurant.
So, it was on with a new apron and stirring the pot like a true Swiss.

Edelweiss is known for its traditional Swiss cuisine and offers an authentic fondue experience for its guests. Highly recommended!

Every evening at 7:00 PM, they also feature live music on stage, enhancing the ambiance of an alpine setting, mountain landscapes, and classic Swiss atmosphere.

Day 3: Train to Lausanne and Chaplin's World

The day began with a train ride to Lausanne, where we checked into  Hotel Alpha-Palmiers. We quickly dropped off our bags and headed out for a guided tour of the city.
Given the city's hilly terrain, it looks like the trains are climbing uphill. So yes, we took the metro. The metro in Lausanne is a unique experience as each station has its own signature sound – it could be the sound of water, birdsong, or even footsteps like in a tap dance – symbolizing what each stop is known for.We visited The Cathedral of Notre Dame of Lausanne, where we had the chance to see the enormous 40-ton organ.

After a guided tour of Lausanne city and a cheese tasting at the market, we took a boat, a classic paddle steamer, to Vevey. It was a magical experience standing in the harbor as the steamboat slowly passed by, with a French flag waving at the bow and a large Swiss flag at the stern. This is because the lake is divided by two international waters. The view was especially magical with snow-capped mountains on the French side, green mountains with small villages and fields on the Swiss side, and water so clear you could see all the way to the bottom – even while standing in the harbor. We heard that the Swiss often say the water is so clear you can swim with your mouth open. After a very delicious lunch, it was time to disembark in Vevey, where we met Renato, our new guide – a very fun guy! He showed us around the incredibly charming village and had lots of tips for us. He told us that every Saturday throughout the summer, you can enjoy live music, yodelers, and wine tastings all over the streets of Vevey. You pay for a glass that you take with you to the various stands at the market, and then you can enjoy free tastings. Very Cosy!

After another fantastic chocolate tasting, we were picked up by a luxurious minibus to visit Chaplin World. What a wow experience! Walking through Charlie Chaplin’s house, where he lived for the last 25 years of his life, and seeing his iconic shoes in person was quite impressive.

Chaplin Word, Vevey
Chaplin Word, Vevey- Lisette Grevstad

It’s easy to be impressed by Charlie Chaplin when delving into the rich history that the creator of The Tramp has to offer. Chaplin was not only one of the most influential and beloved film stars during the silent film and early sound film era, but his legacy also serves as a reminder of timeless themes and values. His innovative approach to comedy and his ability to not only entertain but also comment on the society around him is as relevant today as it was back then. Chaplin became a controversial figure during his time. He was banned from the United States due to his political views, which can be seen as a reminder of the dangers that still exist when defending fundamental values like justice and freedom. Although Chaplin lived in a different era, his legacy remains relevant in today's world, where we still grapple with similar issues and conflicts. Visiting Chaplin's World is not just a journey back in time but also a tribute to the timeless ideas and values that Charlie Chaplin represented. It serves as an inspiring reminder of the importance of never remaining silent in the face of injustice. It was easy to be moved by the film clip from the end of Charlie Chaplin's life, where he was finally welcomed back to the USA and the Oscars, receiving a standing ovation from the audience for over 14 minutes – a record that still stands as the longest ovation time. Some tears were shed during that moment.

After an exciting day, we returned to Lausanne by train to relax and then end the day with a delicious dinner at Brasserie de Montbenon. Brasserie de Montbenon is a popular restaurant in Lausanne, known for its delicious food and beautiful views of the city. It also offers excellent opportunities for hosting great events. Before dinner, we made a spontaneous trip to the rooftop bar MAD, where we were served a delightful cheese and charcuterie platter with a fun pocket knife that we got to take home. Here, you can also enjoy shisha, visit the nightclub, and stay over at the ibis Styles Lausanne Center Mad House.

Day 4: The Olympic Museum and Train to Zürich

The last day in Switzerland began with hotel inspections at two Fassbind hotels in Lausanne. First, Swiss Chocolate – a hotel for true chocolate enthusiasts. Here, guests are immersed in Swiss chocolate artistry. The reception features a chocolate fondue, room numbers are presented on "chocolate pieces" on the doors, and the bedside tables resemble stacked chocolate bars. The next hotel, also a themed hotel, is all about wine – Swiss Wine Hotel & Bar.

Then we had a spontaneous inspection at Château d'Ouchy, a magnificent gem located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Lausanne. With its enchanting architecture and stunning views, this castle hotel offers an unparalleled atmosphere of luxury and history, perfect for a memorable stay in Switzerland.

A short walk from here, we enjoyed a tour of The Olympic Museum . Every corner of The Olympic Museum is filled with stories and memories that warm the hearts of every visitor. Here, amidst the beautiful surroundings of Lake Geneva, it feels like walking through one's own personal memories of the Olympic Games. The museum also features conference rooms, a restaurant, and larger event spaces, making it an ideal venue for hosting conferences – especially for sports enthusiasts.

Next was another hotel inspection at the grand Beau-Rivage Palace, an exclusive and luxurious hotel on the shores of Lake Geneva. With its storied history and exquisite architecture, this five-star palace offers an unparalleled experience of elegance and comfort. The hotel welcomes guests to a world of first-class service, a spa, gourmet dining, and magnificent views of the lake and the Swiss Alps. Beau-Rivage Palace is not just a hotel; it is a destination where memories are made, and guests are treated like royalty.

After this, it was time for lunch at the Royal Savoy Hotel, which was absolutely delicious, followed by an inspection and presentation from Marina at the The Bürgenstock Collection.
Here, guests are greeted with timeless elegance, first-class service, and sophisticated charm. From its elegant rooms and suites to its award-winning restaurants and relaxing spa, the Royal Savoy Hotel offers a memorable stay for anyone seeking the best of Lausanne.

Satisfied and content, we returned to the hotel to collect our luggage, then bid farewell to Lausanne and the super sweet Julia, who had been our guide for two days.
We boarded the train to Zurich, where we attended a presentation on event and conference opportunities on Swiss trains, organized by Swiss Travel Systems..
Swiss Travel System is the perfect way to explore Switzerland by train, bus, and boat, ideal for enjoying the beautiful Swiss nature and culture in a convenient and efficient manner.
An impressive statistic is that almost the entire population of Iceland could ride the train simultaneously in Switzerland, demonstrating the excellent infrastructure and accessibility within the country.

Finally, with fantastic memories and new experiences in our bags, we boarded the flight home from Zurich – this time without any hassle.Thank you, Switzerland, for an unforgettable journey filled with adventure and inspiration! A big thank you to Hanna from Switzerland Tourism for the invitation!

Curios what Greece can offer for TeamBuilding?

In late April, we went on a study trip together with Nordic Travel Rep to explore opportunities for future clients to experience the destination of Grand Resort Lagonissi to the fullest.
During our study trip, we investigate the on-site facilities, what activities are possible to do, as well as the distance and environment in the surrounding area. This is to ensure that the customer feels confident when choosing the destination, but also that they get what they are looking for on their corporate trips.

After a 3-hour flight from Kastrup, we landed at Athens Airport after a pleasant flight with the Greek airline Aegean, and there was warmth in the air.

We were greeted by our driver who took us in a minibus from the airport through a rural landscape with lots of vegetation, before entering a small town and then further out towards the coast. When we finally saw the sea, we were only a few minutes away from our destination, the 5-star hotel Grand Resort Lagonissi.

The entire journey from the airport took about 20 minutes and was a pleasant ride after the flight.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by a team of people, friendly service, and a refreshing drink while they checked us in and then drove us to our rooms in a golf cart, something that was possible to be picked up, throughout the stay.

The rooms we were assigned were Mediterranean Suites. The first feeling experienced upon entering was one of exclusivity. First, we were greeted by a terrace with a pool overlooking the sea. Then, upon entering the room, there was a lounge area where refreshments were laid out in the form of fruit and sweets, as well as some bubbly and water. Even the large bed, positioned further into the room, with a sea view, felt overwhelming. In the room next door, there was a large bathroom with exercise facilities, a shower with a sauna, and even a jacuzzi with a sea view. The room was inviting, with both activity and relaxation options.

After settling into our rooms, we were given a tour of the hotel, where we had the opportunity to see all the room options, restaurants, and conference facilities they offer. There are truly opportunities for companies that want to go on a trip with that little extra, by choosing the luxurious rooms or villas, but also for those who want to take their company to nice bungalows with sea views and a beach outside.

Our first evening, the air was hazy, which we were explained was due to the influx of sand from the Sahara in recent days. This caused, among other things, that we couldn't see the view, but also that in the evening, there was a red/orange glow in the sky, which was quite unusual.

Grand Resort Lagonissi, Greece

On our first evening, we dined at the restaurant located in the main building, Aphrodite, where they also served our breakfast buffet every morning.

We were first served appetizers in tapas form, which included tomato, mozzarella, avocado with melon salad with capers, octopus, pizza slice, and eggplant. Then came the meat, tzatziki, and fries. There was plenty of delicious food, accompanied by wine and water.

The Greek culture is to eat a lot, for a long time, and truly enjoy the food. After this delightful start to the trip, there were comfortable beds to retire to for a good night's sleep.

On the second day, we started with breakfast before hopping into the minibus, which drove us about 10 minutes to our first stop, Margi Farm. It's a farm that is still under development, but where we could already see many crops and herbs growing, as well as olive trees and grapevines.

There were also animals on the farm, goats, a donkey, and chickens, all to produce and use their own ingredients for activities or meals. The possibilities here were vast, and the area was enormous.

One activity set up for a group on their way there was a cooking table and a cozy setup for enjoying the meal.

Afterward, we continued into Athens, where along the way, we caught a glimpse of Olympia, the stadium where the first Olympic Games were held. Upon arrival, a guide welcomed us and led us up the stairs to the famous Acropolis, "The city on the top," where "polis" in Greek means the city and "akro" means the top. Once there, another guide awaited us, providing a tour with fascinating information about the Acropolis and the history of Athens.

Olympia, stadion

After we finished, the guides were ready again, splitting us into two teams, where we would explore Athens by following instructions on a map on an iPad. There were various questions and challenges related to what we were approaching along the way, and we were constantly competing against the other team. It was a fun and educational team-building activity, with small breaks at selected restaurants or bars that you wouldn't want to miss when in Athens. Our final destination on the map was marked as a restaurant serving Greek gyros, kebab, pita bread, and tzatziki.

Then it was back to the hotel, which took about 1 hour from Athens due to rush hour traffic when we were heading back.

In the evening, we went to a nearby village where we were served lamb, which meant the whole lamb was laid out on the platter, accompanied by tzatziki, bread, and tomato salad with olive oil. For dessert, we were treated to Greek yogurt with sweetened accompaniments, a homemade schnapps made from scented geranium and mastic.

It truly gave a sense of being in Greece.

The third day started with a Freddo Cappuccino, which is a cold coffee typical of Greece.

Then we embarked on an excursion by driving rented cars in a convoy. Here, we were divided into three cars, with each car forming a team that would stick together. They explained that this could be done with a focus on team building when dividing people into the cars.

We first headed to Ktima Xatzi, an exclusive mansion with the possibility of hosting events with breathtaking views.

Ktima Xatzi
Ktima Xatzi, Theres Holm

Here, we were guided through a place where much of historical Greece was preserved, and a painting by Monet adorned the wall. We were told about various events they had hosted on-site, including weddings and Greek-themed festivities with music and food. They explained that they had the possibility to set up for dinner both on the grass and under their pavilion, making the mansion feel exclusive for every party that chose to hold an event there.

Then, we continued to the southern part of the Athens island towards Sounion National Park to enjoy a splendid view while beholding a Greek monument.

Upon returning to the hotel, we strolled along the promenade to reach the hotel's restaurant, Mediterraneo, to savor a delicious Greek lunch by the sea. The lunch concluded with a tasteful fruit platter.

On the last evening, we dined at the hotel's restaurant Kohylia, where we were served exquisite sushi, salad with duck, and a white fish resembling cod with a fantastic sauce made of Taro.

Grand Resort Lagonissi, Greece With this exquisite dinner as our conclusion, we were picked up at 5:00 Greek time for our journey back home, filled with a plethora of new experiences.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Nordic Travel Rep and Grand Resort Lagonissi for the unique opportunity to explore the Greek island of Athens. There are opportunities here for both exclusive incentive trips for companies looking to indulge, as well as for those who wish to treat their employees to a Greek experience with bungalows situated by the beach.

The staff at the hotel are welcoming and accommodating, eagerly anticipating the chance to enrich your company with new memories in a fantastic destination. There are options to stay at the hotel, where various events can be held, but if you wish to explore more of the island, there are knowledgeable guides available who have a deep understanding of Athens and its surroundings.

We would be delighted to share more about the destination with your company!

Best regards,
Theres & the CompanyCations Team

Our Top Must Do's - Iceland 2024

After a week of thrilling adventures in both Greece and Iceland, the team is finally reunited! With some members exploring the sunny beaches of Greece and others discovering Iceland's dramatic landscapes, CompanyCations has not only stayed connected remotely but also continued to thrive at the home office. Now, we are all gathered again, ready to continue our journey together and leverage our experiences from both distant destinations and close to home. Join us here on the blog as we share our experiences and adventures!

Iceland

Our base during our stay in Iceland was the charming hotel, Thingholt by Center Hotels, centrally located to provide us with easy access to the city's attractions. Our days began with exploring Reykjavik's fascinating architecture. We were impressed by Harpa, the dazzling concert and conference hall situated right by the sea, with majestic mountains rising dramatically in the background.

Harpa, Reykjavik Iceland
Harpa, Reykjavik Iceland - Lisette Grevstad

No visit to Iceland is complete without exploring its stunning landscapes by car. We had the privilege of renting a car from Ice Rental Cars, and it was a pleasant surprise to discover that our experience with the car rental company was smooth and hassle-free, with excellent service! Unfortunately, this isn't always the case, so we can definitely recommend them.

We embarked on exciting road trips every day, discovering picturesque villages, majestic waterfalls, and dramatic volcanic landscapes along the way.

During our road trips, we got to experience the breathtaking beauty of Iceland's nature. From dramatic cliff formations to sparkling glaciers, every moment was a reminder of nature's grandeur.

On our first RoadTrip, we headed southeast of Reykjavik. The first stop was Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls, is a spectacular sight that attracts visitors from around the world. Located on the southern coast of Iceland, Seljalandsfoss offers an outstanding experience that captivates both the eye and the soul. The area surrounding the waterfall is known for its stunning beauty and diversity of flora and fauna, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike. Seljalandsfoss plunges from a height of over 60 meters, offering an impressive sight as the water cascades into a pool below. What makes Seljalandsfoss unique is its distinctive formation and the fact that visitors have the opportunity to walk behind the waterfall and experience its power up close. We recommend wearing a raincoat and sturdy shoes if you want to stay dry, as the powerful rush of water splashes and creates a damp environment around the waterfall.

Basking in the radiant sun, with a yoga mat, a backpack containing a thermos of coffee, and other essentials, a simple picnic becomes a beautiful experience on a grassy meadow in the middle of nowhere. The sea sparkles before us, birds glide overhead, and between the mountains and valleys behind us, horses run freely, their manes fluttering in the wind like soft brushstrokes across the expansive landscape. It feels as though we are the directors in our own movie, where every moment is a sensation of boundless freedom.

We continue our journey towards Skogafoss, one of Iceland's most spectacular waterfalls, located on the southern coast of the island. Here, water cascades from a height of over 60 meters, spanning a width of 25 meters. In addition to being a natural treasure, Skogafoss is also steeped in Iceland's rich history and mythology. According to legend, a brave Viking once hid a treasure behind the waterfall, and it is said that a part of the treasure still remains hidden there today. This has made the waterfall a popular destination for treasure hunters and adventurers from around the world.

When we visited Skogafoss, a beautiful rainbow formed below the waterfall, enhancing the magical atmosphere and adding an extra dimension to the already impressive experience.

Beyond admiring Skogafoss itself, the area around the waterfall also offers fantastic opportunities for hiking and exploration. Visitors can follow a trail leading up along the side of the waterfall and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding landscape and the spectacular cliffs

Here, visitors also have the opportunity to explore the Skogar Folk Museum, a treasure trove of Iceland's cultural heritage and history. Situated in the village of Skogar, this museum is a living tribute to Iceland's rich cultural heritage and traditions.

We continue our journey to Black Sand Beach, This is one of Iceland's most iconic beaches. What makes this beach so unique is its sand, which isn't white like most beaches, but black. The black color is a result of volcanic activity, giving the beach a mysterious aura. This unique feature creates a dramatic contrast against the white foam of the sea and the steep cliffs surrounding the beach, adding a sense of depth and excitement to this already impressive location.

But Black Sand Beach offers more than just a fantastic natural experience. Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in an unforgettable activity - horseback riding along the beach on classic Icelandic horses. This unique experience allows participants to combine adventure with nature exploration while feeling the pulse of this amazing place on Iceland's south coast.

When it was time for a slightly late lunch, we swung by Black Crust Pizza, a small pizzeria by the beach offers something entirely unique - black pizzas! We savored every bite from the pizzas straight out of the wood-fired oven, offering a true explosion of flavors! Highly recommended.

Iceland is renowned for its dramatic landscapes and rich cultural heritage, but it's also a country deeply rooted in folklore and legends. One of the most fascinating aspects of Icelandic culture is its belief in elves. These mythical beings have a long history and a strong presence in Icelandic folklore.

Elves in Iceland are regarded as beings of beauty and elegance, closely associated with nature and its forces. According to folklore, elves dwell in mountains, rocks, and other natural formations, serving as guardians of the land and its inhabitants. Elves are said to be benevolent towards those who respect and care for nature, but they can also be unpredictable and punish those who harm it.

In Iceland, belief in elves is so deeply ingrained in the culture that many Icelanders take their presence into account when planning and constructing roads, houses, and other structures.

This belief came to life when, on the second day, we listened to Tamara from Blue Lagoon, who shared stories about Icelandic folklore and culture. She revealed how workers encountered obstacles during the construction of the facility. To honor the elves' territory and avoid upsetting them, the CEO, Grímur Sæmundsen, engaged a person who is said to communicate with elves.

It turned out that the construction work encroached upon the elves' capital, and they agreed to allow the construction to continue on the condition that they could inspect the plans for the restaurant. In a modern twist, the elves demanded that the plans be handed over only in digital form, on a USB. The story of Blue Lagoon and the elves has become part of the facility's history, adding to its mystique and charm, and we are grateful to be part of it.

After delving into the stories of the elves at  Blue Lagoon, it was time for pure relaxation. We talked about how the turquoise water against the white surface, surrounded by dramatic lava cliffs, gives the sensation of swimming in warm, silky milk in the middle of nowhere. A reminder of nature's grandeur and how human intervention can blend harmoniously with the natural world. The mineral-rich waters of the Blue Lagoon are said to have healing properties, perfect for soothing both body and soul.

Here, we also had the opportunity to enjoy a facial mask made from natural minerals, along with a drink served while bathing in the blue waters.

Blue Lagoon is not just a bathing spot - it's a place where the beauty of nature meets human-made luxury. Blue Lagoon was definitely a highlight of our trip to Iceland. To experience the healing power of the blue waters, to be embraced by the beauty of nature, and to indulge in little luxuries like a facial mask and a refreshing drink made our stay here an experience we will not soon forget.

We are especially grateful for taking the trip up to Geysir, stands as one of Iceland's most renowned geothermal phenomena and undoubtedly one of the most impressive sights on the island. It serves as a powerful reminder of Earth's forces and the beauty of nature with its periodic eruptions of hot water and steam, shooting several meters into the air. This phenomenon is the result of geothermal activity beneath the Earth's surface, where hot water and steam are forced up through cracks and erupt in a spectacular display of natural forces. Visitors from around the world gather around the hot spring in anticipation of the next eruption, and when it occurs, the air fills with excitement and awe. It's an experience that captivates both the eye and the mind, leaving a lasting impression.

In the area surrounding Geysir, one can find hot springs, boiling mud pools, and other geological formations that create a unique and fascinating landscape.

We made a stop at Kerid Crater on our way back, an incredible volcanic crater that offers a unique insight into Iceland's geological history. With its deep blue lake (still frozen during our visit), contrasting against the red walls of the crater, Kerid presents a breathtaking sight. We walked around the edge of the crater, admiring the "hole," as we called it, and the stunning landscape surrounding it.

One thing we absolutely must mention is our final evening in Iceland, which we chose to spend at Tres Locos -a restaurant with a lot of creativity and mystique where taste buds rejoice in the heart of Reykjavik!

It's not just the food that impresses here. The bartenders are masters at crafting exciting and well-balanced drinks that perfectly complement the cuisine, leaving you enchanted by their flavor and presentation. With its outstanding food, enticing drinks, and hospitable atmosphere, Tres Locos is a destination you simply cannot afford to miss during your visit to Reykjavik.

Our journey to Iceland was an adventure filled with laughter, unforgettable moments, and cherished memories. As we depart from this magical island, our hearts are brimming with gratitude for the incredible experiences we've had. If you ever contemplate visiting Iceland, don't hesitate - it's a place that will truly take your breath away and allow you to create memories that last a lifetime.

Discover the Magic of Ireland with CompanyCations!

Last March, the CompanyCations team was on an epic 12-day Workation in Ireland, where each day where unfolded as a new adventurous chapter to explore. Armed with a rental car and three unique Airbnbs to tick off our list, our journey began southward to the charming town of Killarney, crisscrossing the entirety of Ireland to discover its enchanting magic.

From the first day, we set out on an unforgettable road trip along the Ring of Kerry. The Ring of Kerry, or Iveragh Peninsula, is a scenic route approximately 177 kilometers long that encircles the Iveragh Peninsula in southwestern Ireland. It is considered one of the most stunning coastal drives and a popular tourist destination. The Ring of Kerry offers outstanding natural beauty with dramatic coastlines, green hills, mountains, beaches, and lakes. The landscape varies from wild and dramatic to serene and picturesque.

The road passes through several charming towns and villages, where visitors can experience Irish culture, architecture, and hospitality. Along the way, historical landmarks abound, including ancient forts, monasteries, and other sites of cultural and historical significance. The route also provides unbeatable opportunities for hiking, cycling, and exploring the natural treasures that surround it, including impressive waterfalls and viewpoints like Torc Waterfall and Moll's Gap.

In the picture, you see Torc Waterfall, a 20-meter-high, 110-meter-long waterfall formed by the Owengarriff River flowing from Devil's Punchbowl Lough, a deep circle high above Mangerton Mountain. The name "Torc" comes from the Irish translation for wild boar. According to legend, a man cursed by the Devil to transform into a wild boar every night, when exposed by a local farmer, burst into flames and disappeared into the Devil's Punchbowl on Mangerton Mountain. The Owengarriff River reveals itself to conceal the entrance to its cave beneath Torc Waterfall.

During our 12-day Workation in Ireland, we also had the honor of celebrating St. Patrick's Day, one of the country's most iconic and festive holidays. Taking place on March 17 in memory of St. Patrick, Ireland's patron saint, it is a colorful tribute to Irish culture and heritage.

This special day is marked by parades, concerts, traditional music and dance, and an abundance of green, as it is the symbolic color of Ireland. People from around the world gather to participate in the festivities and experience the unique atmosphere of camaraderie and joy that characterizes St. Patrick's Day. Being part of this celebration was a memorable highlight of our journey and an opportunity to immerse ourselves in Irish culture in a truly unique way!

On our journey, we also spent a few nights in Dublin to experience the city's vibrant atmosphere, full of exciting city vibes. During our stay, we visited the world-famous Guinness Storehouse, a place where the brewery's history and Irish beer tradition converge. Exploring this iconic brewery, learning about the manufacturing process, and enjoying a Guinness with a panoramic view of the city from the Gravity Bar was an unforgettable experience.

We also spent a couple of nights just outside Galway, choosing to stay in a charming house in the middle of nowhere. Here, we were surrounded by rural beauty, with sheep and friendly dogs freely roaming in our garden - well, everywhere else too. It was like taking a break from everyday life and simply being enveloped in the tranquility of nature.
